regional styles of burlesque and their
history is one of my favorite parts of
my job. My favorite cities to perform
here are New Orleans, Las Vegas,
New York, Miami and Los Angeles!
They’re all very different but equally
exciting and inspiring.

- Any difference between
burlesque in the US and the rest
of the countries where you have
performed?
- MM: Again, every city I visit is a
little different which is constantly
fascinating! Burlesque has always
been a reflection of society and
culture so it stands to reason that it
should be a little different in every longer have to have competitions as I feel they often do more harm to the
place. My favorite burlesque acts are people involved than good. Our community should be a upportive place that
the ones that feel honest and express lifts performers up, not pits them against each other.

- MM: Burlesque will always be my
number one passion, but I truly love
modeling as well for the way it gives
me another outlet for performance.
The best models are the ones who
can act and express a character,
and I love that about modeling. The
fashion film Jungle Red that I did
with Moschino was a huge career
highlight, and I really hope I get
the chance to do more film projects
like this! I also design and fabricate
all of my burlesque costumes and
feather fans - occasionally I take
commissions for other performers
but my own pieces keep me very

- What do you prefer: Festivals or
Contests? And because?
- MM: Contests can be very
stressful… I personally hope that
the burlesque community can move
towards a time when festivals no ...
